Life on the farm can be extremely mixed in terms of emotions,
experiences and finances. I found it a useful, indeed therapeutic,
outlet to write about these things, in a regular diary column for the
Penguin News. I continued this for some years, then found that
Baldrick needed my help (see his Diary) with spelling etc so abandoned my own efforts. Which was a mistake. Not only did fame go to his head, but he promptly used his column to tell the world of all our innermost secrets and disasters...
Cats. Sheesh. Who'd have 'em...
Eventually I compiled some of my diary entries into a small book, then a second one emerged. These were softbacks, on glossy paper with laminated covers, both illustrated by talented Falklands artist Sonia Felton.
Both editions are now sold out, or virtually, but I would appreciate hearing from anyone who thinks a reprint, perhaps combining both little volumes in a paperback, would sell. And of course Baldrick has been muttering darkly that it's about flamin' time he was recognised in print... We might just have to bring out
Baldrick's Book, just to shut him up.

If interested in a reprint, it might be worth skimming the following comments, taken from the back of the first Diary:

'This unique view of life in the Falkland Islands, from the farming angle, will delight you. Just read what local reviewers have to say about it:
"Might be handy to wrap fish in." Sealion Sunday Supplement
"Should be dropped from a great height - preferably over water" Albatross Advertiser
"Oh, no - not HER again..." Shepherds' Weekly
"Must have been dropped on her head as a pup" Sheepdog Monthly
"I think eight out of ten would prefer Whiskas..." The Daily Mouser
"I would go to great depths to avoid reading this" Whale Weekly

This page updated 1st August 2006 and left in just for interest and to boost my ego, Baldrick being now six feet under...
